PAWS Service Dogs

PAWS Service Dogs are trained to do work or perform tasks to meet the specific needs of combat wounded veterans and children with disabilities.

Each dog spends up to two and a half years following an intensive training program that includes socialization, obedience and detailed task training.

These highly trained canines are able to pick up dropped items, open and close doors, retrieve medical supplies, provide balance assistance and alert hearing impaired individuals to certain sounds. Once an applicant and a dog are paired, the dog undergoes additional training to meet the specific needs of its handler.

Each day, the PAWS Service Dog provides their handler with peace of mind, knowing they have 24-hour companionship from a canine that can actually seek help and provide physical assistance if it is needed and allow them to lead a more independent life.
